Joining the Human Race and My Family

The photo shoot for my book has come to an end. The studio has been packed up and everything is now stacked up in my side of the garage. Once again - thank heavens for a dear husband along with willing and able adolescents. May I not have to pack and move again for a very long time!

But seriously, what a process it has been! Every day I went in with the intentions of taking some pics of them taking pictures. But I found that I was working so "in the moment" that it just didn't happen. These 3 are all that I have to mark this monumental task.

For those of you that have published books more then once, I am in awe. All in all the shoot was spanned over a period of 6 weeks. Twelve of those days we were actually shooting.

Even though I was bummed that we weren't able to do the shoot at my house, I came to see that it was just as well. I never would have been able to work those 12 and 14 hour days - day after day- if my family had been around. It just wouldn't have happened.

John Polak - photographer

Gwen Steege - Editor

Mary Velgos - Art Director
Best part of the shoot was working so closely with 3 other creative people. At this point it really feels that their names should be on the cover of the book as well as mine - for it has become an amazing collaboration.

Some time next year Rayela. I have hesitated to ask exactly when. So many deadlines have flown by concerning the book that I now understand why they/we only concern ourselves with the one coming up next. But even that one I don't know! lol

Thanks Susan. I feel really fortunate to have John working on my book. The photos are really gorgeous!
